Grand Master Missy Cann
Grand Master Missy Cann was a teacher to many, having taught martial arts most of her adult life. Grand Master Cann also worked and retired from the Department of Defense, Civil Service. A seventh degree black belt in Taekwondo, she worked for 30 years with the U.S. Department of Defense teaching the martial arts style to members of both the Marine Corps and the Air Force.
Originally from Taiwan, Grand Master Cann said she fell into the martial arts as a child because she didn’t want to do what was offered to little girls her age at the time. Strong willed, extremely caring, and generous are just a few of the ways Missy will be remembered. Her home was always open to those in need, and she loved helping people in any way possible. Through the years, she has mentored many children and adults alike, inside and outside the Tae Kwon Do community. With a lifetime of mastering the martial arts to draw on, Grand Master Cann looked to pass along her knowledge and skills to another generation.
In April of 2017, Grand Master Cann finally moved to the Lake Wylie, SC area. As part of her pedigree, she was president and director of both the North and South Carolina AAU Taekwondo, as well as having trained Olympic qualifiers in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
